1. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
The article states that Deep Vein Thrombosis is a blood disorder where the blood moves too slowly throughout your veins, which can cause a clump of blood cells. When they’re deep in your veins, that’s when it develops into Deep Vein Thrombosis and it’s mostly found in the lower leg, thigh, or pelvis area. The symptoms for DPV are your leg or arm swelling that comes on without a warning, pain or soreness when you stand or walk, warmth in the area you’re experiencing pain in, enlarged veins, and your skin showing red or blue color. If the blood clot manages to move through your blood stream, which is still a thick clot, it can move up and get stuck in a blood vessel in your lung, which will develop into a pulmonary embolism which is fatal. The article does not talk about new advancements since it was written in 2022, along with no new treatments. The way to prevent DVT is to take care of yourself, examples: stop smoking, losing weight, and get active. Get regular checkups, don’t sit for too long, and plan surgery after-care. Common treatments for DVT are medicines, like blood thinners, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter, and compression stockings. Since DVT is prevalent on your legs, that’s where the treatment is focused on.

Treatments are being renewed every couple years to then further manage this disease and to find more studies and causes on how to better control it when it comes to those who are at low risk to higher risk as well as those who are overweight and those who may be underweight. Diabetes has been a common cause in the US especially seeing alot of our population isn’t on the healthier side. In all we are constantly figuring out methods to manage it and keep these risk factors from coming about and providing education for these patients.
